Life as I know it..

"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't.."

I decided to open up the Goddess cards today to see what important realization may surface. I’m not sure it revealed anything I didn’t know, but the results were interesting. You usually shuffle through the cards, as you would Tarot or any other similar media, until you feel content, then draw one from a fan. I had Tara fan the cards and drew one with eyes closed. One thing I did this particular sunny afternoon, though, was decide to go out in the back, spend time with the earth, and just browse through the deck (painting side up) and choose a few that stood out to me.
The card I chose was of the Goddess Selene. Selene was the Queen of the Starlit Heavens and the Greek goddess of the moon. She carries the moon across the sky in a white chariot driven by winged horses or bulls. She is the totality of the moon, with its waxing into fullness and waning into darkness. Selene fell in love with a mortal, Endymion. When she descended to the earth to join Endymion, he fell into a deep sleep from which he never awoke. Selene continued to visit him nightly. In the later Greek mythology Selene represented the full moon, while Artemis represented the crescent or waxing moon and Hecate the waning and dark moon; hence Selene is Phoebe, meaning “bright, shining.” She is traditionally represented with the crescent moon as a diadem. Selene represents the fullness of life, incorporating all phases of light and darkness in her shining.

The second card:
Isis and Osiris
In ancient Egypt Isis was among the oldest of the goddesses, the mother and giver of all life. A moon goddess, she gives birth to the sun, creates and sustains all life, and is the savior of all people. The teacher of agriculture, she is also the goddess of medicine and wisdom.
Osiris was her brother and husband. When Osiris was murdered by his brother Set, Isis searched for and found him, revived him, and conceived their son, Horus. When Set again took Osiris and scattered his body in fourteen pieces, Isis hunted down each piece, except for his reproductive organs, which she was unable to locate, in order to give each piece a proper burial.
Isis is the universal goddess, representing total femininity. She can overcome death itself, yet she is not above grief: One of her tears, wept when Osiris was dying, caused the Nile River to flood. She underscores the depths of emotion that even a goddess must feel.
The third:
High Priestess
The priestess is the direct representative of the goddess on earth. She has direct responsibility for functions that ensure fertility and ongoing creation. Preistesses often were responsible for ensuring rain, for the goddess was the giver of dew and of rain. They often tended a sacred flame, the embodiment of the creative spark of life.
The High Priestess is the Great Goddess herself, a universal figure found in such diverse guises as Isis in Egypt, Kuan Yin throughout all Asia, Athena in Greece, and Rhiannon among the Celts. This goddess is all-knowing and all-wise; she creates life out of herself and bestows life-giving waters. At the proper time she takes life away so that the divine spark in each person may be freed to continue on its journey. The High Priestess is a reminder of the innate wisdom in each of us. She demands that we connect to the divine spark within and manifest in the world.
Finally the fourth:
Triple Goddess
The Triple Goddess, the original trinity, symbolizes the three faces of the Great Goddess and is the earliest representation of her division into multiplicity. The goddess with three faces is a universal motif, found worldwide. The Triple Goddess is intimately associated with the changing phases of the moon; just as the moon transforms from one phase to another, the Great Goddess moves among her many roles. Her three faces are usually virgin, mother, and crone: virgin representing the strong, self-defined goddess; mother representing the nurturing goddess as source of all nourishment; and crone representing the goddess of death and transformation. This symbolism embraces the role of the goddess in all phases of existence, from birth through death to rebirth. The Triple Goddess reminds us of our sacredness regardless of our age or function in life. She reminds us that despite her many forms there is one goddess, always present and always sacred.

One interesting thing to me was how all of the cards I chose somehow dealt with light, darkness, life, death, and rebirth. Like I said, I chose these cards at random, and though we are always dealing with some form of death and rebirth, it’s been more of a reality through the past few weeks. Not only did my boyfriend and I decide to take a break and see what our futures hold, but I lost one of my very dear friends.
Reading through these cards of representations of past vessels and their roles in the universe they lived in was a really good reminder that the only constant is change. I had somehow fallen into a mindset that though change would unfold, I would have my man to be there holding my hand, and then that also crumbled to dust. So now in a new state, no friends (other than family), and not much of anything, I’m learning that really the only constant I can depend on is myself. No matter what happens, as long as I’m alive in this body, I will be with myself.
Sometimes birth, death, and rebirth are necessary to make certain changes or experience certain situations that we wouldn’t get to otherwise go through. Whether it be the physical death of a loved one, or the symbolical birth and death of a relationship. It’s all the same cycle.
Through recent events, I’ve learned that I may have done some things differently in order to improve the outcome of my relationships. I do know that I THOUGHT I was much more dependent emotionally than I really was. That’s not to say I’m not emotionally attached, but the way I handled losing my lover in the beginning definitely egged on the break. You shouldn’t make someone feel like they’re your soul purpose.. because they aren’t. YOU ARE. I became so involved in our relationship that I didn’t take time away for myself. I may have been too “needy” or too “dependent”, but in all honesty, I really don’t think that’s the case. When you’re expecting to build a life with someone, those things just come with the territory.
This is a pretty long blabbery mess, but I told you I’d have an upcoming blog so this is my product. Future advice to self: Let you be your number one and everything else will follow. Once the person you love decides that loving is a chore and not a pleasure, there’s something wrong. You are an incredible woman, goddess, and queen, and there IS a king out there who will love you for everything you are and AREN’T. He’ll be understanding with you and caring of you, and will love every piece of you to the depths of his soul.. Until that day comes.. HAVE FUN. You’re young, you’re beautiful, and you’re fucking awesome. So get loose and experience life for a while. No one is worth you feeling like you’re not good enough because in the end, they’re the one who isn’t going to be good enough for you. Don’t spend your time wishing things were different, be thankful that they happened and move on with your life. No good ever came out of moping around. Laugh and be merry and kick some ass. Somewhere along the line you forgot that no one should have the power to damper your soul. Anyone who wishes to isn’t worth your time…

haha, now that the words of encouragement are over, Ima make myself some dinner and spend some time crafting because those are things I love to do and are things that are good for the soul.
CHEERS BABIES! You are all incredible wonderful beautiful beings of light. Never let anyone tell you different.
